Altitudinal distribution: montane belt (potential vegetation: deciduous forests dominated by Fagus sylvatica and closed coniferous forests with Picea abies)
Note: a species with a verruculose-areolate thallus, hemispherically protruding perithecia (to c. 0.3 mm in diam.) with an entire involucrellum, and broadly ellipsoid ascospores (to c. 12 µm long); on wooden fences in rural environments, only known from the Eastern Alps (Austria).
