Substrate: calciferous rocks
Altitudinal distribution: subalpine belt (potential vegetation: open, taiga-like forests dominated by Larix decidua and/or Pinus cembra and Rhododendron)
Note: a species with a relatively thick, areolate, whitish-grey thallus consisting of mostly smooth, angular areoles (to 2 mm in diam.), ascomata several per areole, immersed (to c. 0.2 mm in diam), the black ostiolar regions only slightly protruding, the perithecial wall brownish above, otherwise hyaline, ascospores ellipsoid to oblong (hardly exceeding 20 µm in length); based on a type from Finland (on concrete), rarely recorded in Europe, including the Eastern Alps (Austria).
