Lichenised. Poorly known taxon.
Substrate: intermediate rocks (such as calciferous schists)
Altitudinal distribution: alpine belt (potential vegetation: treeless Alpine grasslands and tundras, to the lower limit of perennial snow and the equilibrium line of glaciers)
Note: a species with an indistinct thallus, hemispherical, protruding perithecia with a basally hyaline wall and a thick involucrellum reaching the substrate, and ellipsoid, muriform ascospores up to c. 50 µm long; on siliceous boulders of moraines in the glacier foreland of the high-alpine to subnival belt; only known from the type locality in the Eastern Alps (Austria).
