Altitudinal distribution: mesomediterranean belt (potential vegetation: evergreen broad-leaved forests dominated by Quercus ilex)
Note: a taxon reported from the base of the Western Alps near Spotorno (Italy) and from Spain, which, according to the original description, differs from C. lenticularis in the growth on siliceous substrata and in the narrower spores, measuring 8-8.5 × 0.5-2 µm (Roux et coll. 2014: 282).
