Substrate: siliceous rocks, metal-rich siliceous rocks
Altitudinal range: from the submediterranean/colline belt (potential vegetation: mixed deciduous forests dominated by Quercus and Carpinus) to the nival belt (above the lower limit of perennial snow and glaciers)
Note: an arctic-alpine, bipolar lichen found on vertical or underhanging surfaces of often metal-rich siliceous rocks in exposed situations with optimum above treeline.
