Altitudinal distribution: submediterranean/colline belt (potential vegetation: mixed deciduous forests dominated by Quercus and Carpinus)
Note: a subtropical species of sheltered, warm-humid, shaded surfaces of calcareous rocks, usually not far from the sea; mainly Mediterranean in Europe, with a few records from the base of the Western Alps (France).
