Altitudinal range: from the submediterranean/colline belt (potential vegetation: mixed deciduous forests dominated by Quercus and Carpinus) to the montane belt (potential vegetation: deciduous forests dominated by Fagus sylvatica and closed coniferous forests with Picea abies)
Note: a mainly Central European lichen also known from Northern Spain, with a poorly developed, mainly endosubstratic thallus; the large 1-septate ascospores (30-45 × 7-10 μm) are diagnostic; on the trunks of broad-leaved deciduous trees in woodlands, mostly near the base of the boles, or on roots.
