Aspicilia sophodopsis (Nyl.) Arnold

Syn.: Lecanora sophodopsis Nyl.
Lichenised. Poorly known taxon.
Substrate: siliceous rocks
Altitudinal distribution: subalpine belt (potential vegetation: open, taiga-like forests dominated by Larix decidua and/or Pinus cembra and Rhododendron)
Note: a species with a thallus recalling a sterile Staurothele ambrosiana in being minutely granulose, olive-brown to greyish-brown, but reacting K+ red; perhaps this could be the correct name for alpine populations of putative “A. leprosescens” or even “A. simoensis”; on siliceous boulders, in the study area so far only known from the Eastern Alps (Austria).
Austria: Tirol;
