Altitudinal distribution: subalpine belt (potential vegetation: open, taiga-like forests dominated by Larix decidua and/or Pinus cembra and Rhododendron)
Note: thallus composed of small granules dispersed in a pale hypothallus, encrusting bryophytes in arctic-alpine environments; widespread in Fennoscandia, presence in the Central European mountains uncertain, and records from the Alps in need of verification.
