Entità mediterraneo-subatlantica, presente in quasi tutta Italia salvo Valle d'Aosta, Friuli Venezia Giulia e forse Puglia e Basilicata. Nel territorio euganeo è piuttosto rara: si trova sui bassi colli nei dintorni di Abano Terme e sul M. Rua. Cresce in fossi, pozze effimere, campi sabbiosi umidi, oggi in forte regresso, dal livello del mare ai 1000 m circa. Forma biologica: terofita scaposa/ idrofita radicante. Periodo di fioritura: aprile-agosto.
