ORGANS FOR SEXUAL REPRODUCTION
In the lichen symbiosis only the fungus is able to reproduce sexually. The organs for sexual
reproduction (
perithecia
and
apothecia
) are therefore made by the fungus, and produce spores.
When a lichen reproduces sexually, organs of vegetative reproduction (see later) are usually lacking.
